A Bismarck woman is accused of leaving her two young children unattended in her unlocked car for about 10 minutes while inside a Wal-Mart, according to the Sentinel-Record in Hot Springs.

Karla Renea Henson, 25, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Monday on two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of possession of a controlled substance, the newspaper reported.

According to an affidavit, Hot Springs police found two young children — a 14-month-old toddler and a 1-month-old infant — inside the running silver Chevrolet Malibu on Monday.

Henson told authorities that she had left the children inside of her car outside the Wal-Mart, 4019 Central Ave., for about 10 minutes while using the restroom and retrieving a wire money transfer.

While being booked into the Garland County jail, authorities said, Henson was found to be in the possession of 0.6 gram of Diazepam that had been placed inside a Lorazapam prescription bottle.

Records show Henson remained at the jail as of Wednesday morning in lieu of $6,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear Thursday morning in Garland County District Court for a plea and arraignment hearing.
