ArkansasGives Watch Party
SEARCY — The White County Community Foundation will have an ArkansasGives Watch Party from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Robbins Sanford Grand Hall, 118 N. Spring St. All are welcome to visit throughout the day to celebrate the work of White County’s nonprofits, meet representatives from participating organizations and learn more about the community foundation. ArkansasGives is a 12-hour online giving event during which people can make a donation to a participating charity of their choice and earn bonus dollars for the charity. Gem and Mineral Club Meeting
CHEROKEE VILLAGE — The Spring River Gem and Mineral Club will meet at at 10 a.m. at the Omaha Center, 20 Omaha Circle. The program will be Saving What Is Important, by Edward Salo, assistant professor of history at Arkansas State University. Salo will examine the National Historic Preservation Act, the National Register of Historic Places and how they preserve the nation’s history, including archaeological sites. Fire Training Center Open House
BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will host an open house for the college’s recently completed fire training center from 10 a.m. to noon. Annual Red Hot Ladies Luncheon
BATESVILLE — The Annual Red Hot Ladies Luncheon will take place Friday in Independence Hall at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. The silent auction will begin at 11 a.m.; the program and entertainment will be from noon to 1:30 p.m.; and auction checkout will be at 1:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Ribbons of Hope. Fashion Gala
FAIRFIELD BAY — The 23rd annual Fashion Gala, presented by the Xi Gamma Kappa chapter, will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Francis Parish Hall, 250 Woodlawn Drive. Prizes will be on display, and raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the show. The style show will feature models wearing spring and summer fashions offered by local businesses. Opening-Night Reception
SEARCY — Center on the Square will have an opening-night reception for A Streetcar Named Desire at 6:30 p.m. Friday at 219 W. BATESVILLE — This year’s Arkansas Scottish Festival at Lyon College, Friday through Sunday, will feature the second annual Highland Adventure Race on Saturday. Literary Reading
BATESVILLE — Craig Albin will give a reading of fiction and poetry at 7:30 p.m. in the Bevens Room of Brown Chapel at Lyon College. The author of a new short-story collection, Hard Toward Home, Albin has won numerous awards for his poetry and fiction. Used Book Donations for Book Fair
BATESVILLE — The Friends of the Mabee-Simpson Library at Lyon College will have a book fair during the Arkansas Scottish Festival and need donations of used hardcover and paperback books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and other media items. The materials may be brought to the library during its hours of operation. The book fair will be open all day Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday following the Iona worship service. All proceeds will fund library furnishings, garden maintenance and special-collections materials.

Proceeds from the sale of donated books support the mission of helping adults in the community improve their literacy and English-language skills.
