Illinois man dies, found in jail cell

An Illinois man died Monday in Harrison after being arrested the previous night for driving while intoxicated.

Jeffrey T. Slaby, 50, of O'Fallon, Ill., apparently died of a heart attack, according to a news release from the Boone County sheriff's office.

Slaby refused to take a field sobriety test, so he was transported to jail, according to the release. While incarcerated alone in a cell, Slaby was found lying in the floor unresponsive Monday morning, said Sheriff Mike Moore.

Slaby was transported by ambulance to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, where he was pronounced dead. Slaby's body will be sent to the state medical examiner's office.
