Crashes on state roads fatal to 3

Three people were killed and two were injured in separate single-vehicle crashes on Arkansas roads over the weekend, Arkansas State Police said.

In the most recent wreck, 18-year-old Drewe Kelley, of Blytheville died at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday as he traveled south on Mississippi County Road 230, east of state Highway 18, according to an accident report.

Police said Kelley lost control of his 1997 GMC and crashed into a ditch.

Weather and road conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accident.

Earlier Sunday, a Hot Springs man was killed and another was injured in rainy and wet conditions.

Dayton Garner, 22, was killed at 12:05 a.m. after the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet left the road and hit a tree as he traveled west on state Highway 192, north of Mountain Pine, police said.

Garland County Coroner Stewart Smedly pronounced Garner dead at the scene, and driver Austin Meeks, 20, was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to a report.

Arkansas State Police said a third victim, 30-year-old Kimberly Wilson-Bass of Little Rock, died Saturday in an all-terrain vehicle accident near Colt.

Wilson-Bass was a passenger on the ATV when the left rear wheel came off as the driver was traveling west on St. Francis County Road 254 at 4:30 p.m., according to a report. Wilson-Bass was thrown from the ATV and taken to Forrest City Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The driver of the ATV, James Bonds, 37, of Forrest City was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Weather and road conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accident.
