A man who worked as a janitor for the Dardanelle School District is free on bond after being arrested on a charge of sexual indecency with a child, a spokesman for the Yell County sheriff's office said Wednesday.
Matthew Allen Marcellus, 32, of Havana was arrested last week by sheriff's investigators who "were following up on reports that Marcellus had sent inappropriate images of himself to minor children" at Dardanelle Middle School, Yell County sheriff's Capt. John Foster said in a news release.
Investigators allege that Marcellus sent images to at least one eighth-grader via "obscene" text messages and that he bought gifts for another eighth-grader, Foster said.
Prosecuting Attorney Tom Tatum of Danville had not filed formal charges as of Wednesday afternoon.
Marcellus was released Tuesday on $10,000 bond.
