LITTLE ROCK — A sentencing hearing for former middleweight boxing champion Jermain Taylor scheduled for next week has been moved to May.
Taylor struck a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty in December to more than a half-dozen charges stemming from three separate incidents during the past year, including him shooting and wounding his cousin and firing a gun during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade. Taylor also pleaded guilty to a battery charge related to an incident at a substance abuse treatment facility.
He was scheduled to appear before a Pulaski County Judge Tuesday, but court documents show the sentencing was moved to May 20. Court records do not show a reason for the postponement.
Taylor faces up to 54 years in prison on a total of nine charges.
