— Former Arkansas All-SEC forward Scotty Thurman is switching roles for the Razorbacks basketball program and will become a full-time assistant coach, multiple sources told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Friday.

Thurman has been Arkansas' director of student-athlete development the last six years.

There hasn't yet been an official announcement from Arkansas Coach Mike Anderson about Thurman's taking on full-time coaching responsibilities.

Matt Zimmerman, an assistant coach for Anderson the last 14 years at Alabama-Birmingham, Missouri and Arkansas, will remain with the Razorbacks in an administrative role, according to the sources.

Melvin Watkins and T.J. Cleveland will remain assistant coaches for Arkansas.

Thurman ranks 10th on the UA's all-time scoring list with 1,650 points from 1993-1995. He's best remembered for the three-point basket he hit with less than a minute left to help seal the Razorbacks' 76-72 victory over Duke in the 1994 NCAA Tournament title game.
