Three schools in Northwest Arkansas claimed the top spots in U.S. News & World Report rankings of the best high schools in the state.

Six schools from Northwest Arkansas, two from central Arkansas and two from northern Arkansas rounded out the top 10, according to the rankings, which were released Wednesday.

The publication rated Fayetteville's Haas Hall Academy as the best high school in the state. With 320 students, Haas Hall has a student-to-teacher ratio of 16-to-1 and a college preparedness rating of 80.4, a score nearly double that of the second-place school.

College readiness is determined by the percentage of seniors who complete and pass advanced placement exams. At Haas Hall, 94 percent of students took an AP test, and 76 percent passed, according to U.S. News.

Haas Hall was followed by Bentonville High School and Rogers High School with college readiness scores of 46.4 and 41.9, respectively.

No. 4 Greenbrier High School and No. 5 Lakeside High School in Hot Springs were the only schools in central Arkansas to crack the top 10. Both schools scored in the mid-30s for college readiness.

None of the state's schools was ranked in the top 100 nationally. Haas Hall ranked 116th, more than 700 places ahead of Bentonville High school.
