3 killed, 3 injured in 2 state crashes

A pair of multiple-vehicle wrecks on Tuesday killed three people, according to Arkansas State Police.

The first fatal crash occurred on Interstate 40 near Lonoke at about 9:30 a.m., causing lengthy delays.

Linda J. Brewster, 47, and Lora A. Piggee, 49, both of Clarendon were killed after their 1997 Honda CRV stalled in the left, westbound lane and was struck by two tractor-trailers, according to a police report.

The report said the first truck hit the stopped car before running off the left side of the road. A second truck then rear-ended the small SUV.

Police said the driving conditions were wet and rainy at the time of the wreck.

Charlene Mosley, 55, of Crossett died after driving into oncoming traffic and striking another vehicle head-on in Bradley County on Tuesday afternoon, according to a police report.

Mosley died after she was transported to Jefferson County Medical Center.

Justin C. Mann, 31, Stacey R. Harding, 54, and Joseph L. Thomas, all of Warren, were in the vehicle Mosley hit, the report said. They were taken to the Bradley County Medical Center in Warren to receive treatment for their injuries.

The driving conditions were cloudy and wet when the crash occurred, police said.
