An Arkansas man arrested Thursday on charges stemming from a shooting in Little Rock now faces a murder charge in the death of a man Sunday in the state's capital city, according to police.

John Johnson, 33, of Little Rock is charged with first-degree murder after Keith Williams, 50, of Little Rock was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound at 714 Dennison St., between the residence and Interstate 630.

Johnson was initially held on battery charges after a shooting Sunday night at 5517 W. 51st St., police said in a statement. Jail records show he was booked on those charges about 11:39 a.m. Thursday.

He remained at the Pulaski County jail as of Friday afternoon without bond, records show.

Williams’ death was the ninth homicide reported in Little Rock this year, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.
