Police: Man used blowtorch to break into Burger King

MINEOLA, N.Y. — Police on Long Island say they've arrested a man accused of using a blowtorch to break into a Burger King restaurant.

Nassau County police say Latise Eady was arrested Wednesday on arson and burglary charges. He was ordered held on $300,000 bond at his arraignment Thursday. His attorney didn't immediately return a call for comment.

Police say Eady used a blowtorch to break into a Burger King restaurant in East Meadow in December. He's also accused of breaking into two T-Mobile stores by breaking the glass on the front doors.

Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter said Eady is a suspect in nearly a dozen other burglaries, though he hasn't been arrested or charged in those incidents.

He said Eady is currently on parole for armed robbery.
