Garland County man arrested after invading home, police say

Garland County sheriff's office deputies arrested a man who is accused of breaking into a woman's home and busting her window while trying to escape, authorities said.

Marcus Calhoun, 20, of Hot Springs National Park was arrested Friday and charged with residential burglary. He is being held on a $5,000 bond at the Garland County jail.

A 77-year-old woman called police from her home in the 600 block of Farr Shores Drive to report that an intruder had set off her home alarm system, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.The man said that someone was trying to kill him and made his way to her bedroom, where he broke the window and fled on foot.

When deputies arrived, they said they found blood from a cut the man obtained while trying to break the window.

Later that day, a fisherman called police to report a man laying face down and bleeding on a boat dock, according to the release. The victim of the home invasion identified Calhoun before he was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
