The family road-trip tale Little Miss Sunshine has won the hearts of many critics. It has raked in the awards as well: It was named best picture at the Spirit Awards and garnered the top honors from the Producers Guild and the Screen Actors Guild.

In a statement Friday afternoon, the Garland County sheriff's office said the homeowner in the 600 block of Farr Shores Drive in Hot Springs was awakened by her security system warning her of an intruder, whom she quickly encountered.

The man pushed the homeowner out of his way and broke out a window in her bedroom to flee the scene, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

He repeatedly told the homeowner that someone was trying to kill him, the release said.

About 9 a.m., the sheriff's office was called again to the area, this time by a witness who saw a man, identified as Marcus Calhoun, 20, of Hot Springs bleeding at the boat dock. Calhoun was transported to a local hospital and later identified by the homeowner as the intruder.

He is charged with residential burglary and remained at the Garland County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond Friday evening, records show.

Calhoun is to appear May 2 in Garland County District Court.
