Arkansas man dies after losing control of car, hitting tree, police say

An Arkansas man died Monday night after losing control of the car he was driving “at a high rate of speed" at a curve, according to police.

In a news release, the Hot Springs Police Department said its agency responded about 10:32 p.m. to a single-vehicle accident at 2009 Park Avenue involving a southbound black 2003 Honda Accord driven by Michael C. Tisdale, 41, of Malvern.

After passing two vehicles on a double yellow line, witnesses reported seeing the Honda spin in a clockwise direction on Park Avenue before leaving the road, hitting and rupturing a gas main, and striking a large tree.

Tisdale was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 11:40 p.m., police said.

The single-vehicle crash caused Park Avenue to temporarily be shut down from Gorge Road to Fox Pass Cutoff until early Tuesday while CenterPoint Energy shut off the damaged gas main, according to authorities.

Hot Springs police said an investigation is ongoing into the fatal wreck.
