One week after getting a visit from Arkansas basketball Coach Mike Anderson, senior forward Brachen Hazen orally committed to the Hogs on Tuesday night during his official visit to Fayetteville.

He and his parents arrived Monday and will leave today.

“The coaches and players made me feel welcomed,” Hazen said. “I felt like I would fit in not only on the court, but off. The campus and facilities were amazing.”

Hazen, 6-8, 200 pounds of Columbia City (Ind.) High School, signed with Central Florida during the early signing period in November. He was granted a release from the Knights after Coach Donnie Jones was fired.

Prior to his trip to Arkansas, Hazen said he and his parents usually talked things over for a week or two before making a decision. They initially ruled out committing on the trip.

“Yeah, it just felt right, and I knew I wanted to go here as soon as I got on campus,” Hazen said. “Just got a great feeling.”

Hazen, who chose the Razorbacks over scholarship offers from Ball State, Clemson, Creighton, Maryland, Richmond and Valparaiso, averaged 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds last season.

The Hogs signed five prospects during the early and spring signing periods. Hazen becomes the sixth addition to the 2016 class. Oral commitments are nonbinding.
