Sommer Leann Hyatt, 32, was charged with attempted capital murder.

Deputies responded the morning of April 13 to Hyatt's home at 827 Lakeshore Drive after her ex-husband, Joshua Ryan Hyatt, said he was concerned about her well-being and the welfare of their son, according to a court affidavit. Joshua Hyatt told deputies that she had threatened to kill herself twice this year.

The sheriff's office found Sommer Hyatt and her son lying on a bed next to multiple bottles of prescription pills, according to the affidavit. She reportedly told deputies she'd taken about 50 Xanax pills and also had given the anti-anxiety medication to her son.

"She advised [a deputy] she wanted to kill herself and her child," the affidavit states.

Sommer Hyatt was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment. Her son was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

The sheriff's office said in a statement Tuesday that the child had been released from the hospital and was recuperating.

An arrest warrant was issued Monday for Hyatt. She was booked in the Saline County jail at 8:59 a.m. Hyatt was later released on a $100,000 signature bond.

In addition to attempted capital murder, Hyatt was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and introduction of controlled substance into the body of another person. Both are felony offenses.
