Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema has found a way for his staff to recruit in one city per day, be on the road for four days and still get to see their families on the weekend.
That's the plan Bielema has as coaches got back out on the recruiting trail Wednesday night and will be in schools this morning.
"We have already sent our coaches out on the road for two days (before spring practice ended) and a couple of coaches -- Reggie (Mitchell) and Paul Rhoads -- did a tour through Kansas," Bielema said after the Red-White scrimmage last Saturday.
"On Wednesday at night, we are going to take a plane to a bordering state and drop off all my coaches. We will be in one city all day Thursday and one city all day Friday.
"We have worked it out where we are going to have kind of a nice schedule where we will go out for four days, come back in Friday and meet so my coaches don't eat up their Friday, Saturday and Sunday with their families."
Arkansas, who had more than 50 signees, commits and other prospects on hand Saturday at the Red-White game, has eight pledges in its 2017 recruiting class and also has added a pair of late 2016 prospects.
Those late additions to this year's roster are Ventura (Calif.) College cornerback Britto Tutt (6-2, 185) and former Jacksonville wide receiver D'Vone McClure (6-3, 190).
Razorback defensive coordinator Robb Smith thinks Tutt, who will be a sophomore and have four years to play three, can have an impact right away.
"I think he is a long athlete," Smith said. "He is a bigger athlete and I was really impressed when we got a chance to see him in person. He was bigger than what we thought from a stature standpoint. We knew he was long.
"He is an aggressive player, he tackles, he has good man coverage skills. I really like his football intelligence when we were around him and I think he can hopefully make a difference for us this fall."
McClure, a former Arkansas baseball signee, was a fourth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Indians in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft and signed a $750,000 contract.
He spent four years in the minor leagues while hitting .219 overall and was released earlier this month.
That gave him a chance for a second opportunity to be a Razorback with this time being on the football field.
"There is nothing like love from the house," McClure said of his home state. "I felt it from Coach Bielema, from (wide receivers) Coach (Michael) Smith, from the players and fans, especially on social media. I am excited about my mom being able to see me play and doing it for my state and my city."
Arkansas will be losing five senior wide receivers after the 2016 season and certainly McClure, would have the opportunity when they head out the door.
"God willing, I can have an impact right away and a bigger one down the line," McClure said. "I didn't want to waste this second chance they I have been given."
