ATV accident kills Clay County boy

A boy died Sunday morning in an ATV accident on family property in Clay County, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.

Henry Rogers, 11, was riding along County Road 1401 at 10:30 a.m. with his niece, 11, and nephew, 5, when they hit a bump that caused the girl, who was driving, to accelerate while turning the ATV, Deputy Robert White said.

He said Henry was thrown from the vehicle and then trapped under it as it rolled over him.

Doctors pronounced him dead at a Paragould hospital, where he was taken for head and chest injuries. The other children had minor cuts and bruises, White said.
