Hit from behind in Little Rock lot, man says

Police were investigating an attempted robbery Tuesday in downtown Little Rock.

Michael Bennett, 39, said he was standing in the parking lot of the Wolfe Street Foundation at 1015 S. Louisiana St. when a man approached him from behind about 5:30 p.m., according to a police report. Bennett said the man struck him with a blunt object, then tried to pull a gun from his waistband.

Bennett ran in one direction, and the robber fled in another, according to the report. Nothing was taken from Bennett.

Officers noted that Bennett was bleeding from his mouth when they arrived on the scene. He was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment. Police said his injuries were minor.

Officers searched the area but made no arrests.

The robber is described as black, 5-foot-9 and weighing 160 pounds. He has black hair and a goatee.
