Broadcast reporter Hilary Hunt said Friday that she will leave her job at Little Rock’s NBC and Fox affiliates next month to become a news anchor in Northwest Arkansas.

In a tweet Friday morning, Hunt said she would be joining the team at NBC affiliate KNWA-TV and Fox affiliate KFTA-TV, which, like Little Rock stations KARK-TV and KLRT-TV, are owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Group.

“I love Arkansas so much that I didn’t want to go too far,” said Hunt, a Tampa, Fla., native. “I’m excited to be staying in the state that I now call home. Northwest Arkansas is an amazing place that will be full of new adventures.”

Hunt, 26, told ArkansasOnline by phone that her last day on air in Little Rock will be May 27 before beginning her weekend anchor job at KNWA and KFTA the first week in June.

According to her station biography, Hunt joined KARK and KLRT in April 2014 as a general assignment reporter.

“Thank you to all the amazing viewers in central Arkansas who have been so supportive and welcoming to me the past two years,” she said on Twitter. “It has been an honor telling your stories.”

KARK/KLRT News Director Austin Kellerman said viewers will likely continue to see Hunt in some form in central Arkansas.
