Plasterboard falls 30 feet, injures worker at Robinson Center

One man was injured Friday morning when a piece of plasterboard fell on him while he was working on renovations at the Robinson Center, a spokesman for the Little Rock Fire Department said.

The plasterboard fell 30 feet onto the man who was working on the third-floor side balcony, Capt. Jason Weaver said.

The man appeared to have a broken arm, a broken leg and several other injuries that were not life-threatening, he said.

Fire personnel responded at 11:20 a.m. and administered aid until Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services arrived. The worker was then taken to a local hospital for treatment, Weaver said.

Renovation work at the Robinson Center was halted for the day, but some crews will resume Saturday, spokesman Scott Belt said.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
