Game times set for three ASU games

Kickoff times for Arkansas State's three nationally televised games against Sun Belt Conference opponents were announced Friday by the league office.

ASU, which went 9-4 and won the Sun Belt title last season, will host Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5, a Wednesday, which will be televised on ESPN2. ASU will play at Georgia State at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, a Thursday, which will be on ESPNU. The Red Wolves will play at Troy for the first time in four seasons at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 17, a Thursday, which will also be on ESPNU.

ASU and Georgia Southern will each play three midweek games on one of ESPN's networks, tied for most in the conference.

ASU's Sept. 10 visit to Auburn could still be picked up by one of ESPN's networks, and every home game and Sun Belt Conference game will be on ESPN3.com.

ATHLETICS

Seven to be inducted into UCA hall

Current Central Arkansas offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Nathan Brown will be one of seven added to the UCA Sports Hall of Fame in the fall, the school announced Friday.

Brown, a quarterback for the Bears in 2005-2008, will be joined by Cleon Brown (football, track and field), Lisa Dreher (softball), Layton Gray (football, track and field), Bobby Hill (football), Don Struebing (football) and Bill Terwilliger (basketball, coaching) during a brunch Oct. 22 at UCA.

Brown was an NAIA All-American defensive tackle on the Bears' 1984 national championship team and also threw the shot put. Brown set school records with 10,558 yards passing and 100 touchdowns.

Dreher, now the head softball coach at Bryant, was UCA's first softball signee in 2006 and was a four-time all-Gulf South Conference pick. Gray was a four-year letterman in football and track and field in the 1930s. Hill was a four-year letterman in the 1960s.

Struebing was an offensive lineman in 1994-1996 and was named to the Gulf South all-decade team. Terwilliger was a four-year basketball letterman and a high school coach.
