Juvenile-court bid hearing continued

A hearing scheduled in Sebastian County Circuit Court on a motion to move Dionte Dewayne Park's murder case to juvenile court was continued Friday, but a new hearing date has yet to be set, a court official said.

Parks, 16, and brothers Sharkur Shandem Sharp, 16, and James Lariel Sharp, 15, are charged in the Jan. 23 slaying of University of Arkansas at Fort Smith student Kaleb Glynn Watson, 22, in Watson's home in Fort Smith. In addition to first-degree murder, the three are charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

All three have pleaded innocent.

Parks' attorney, Public Defender R. Howard Watkins, filed a motion to have Parks' case transferred to juvenile court. The Sebastian County prosecuting attorney has said that even though the three are minors, state law allows anyone 16 or older to be charged as an adult for any felony.
