Fred Scarborough

Where I live: We live in Hillcrest neighborhood of Little Rock. My wife, Mary, and I love everything about the neighborhood.

Occupation: I am a fundraiser. I have the privilege of serving as president of the Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation. I work with a passion-driven team that champions children every day. There is nothing more exciting than working with a donor/donor family to realize a project that they find meaningful -- from helicopters to child abuse prevention, cardiovascular disease to health care access.

My favorite space is: The front porch of our home. It is a beautiful 1925 rock-and-brick, green-tile roofed outdoor space.

Why? I'm an early-to-rise guy -- 4:30 a.m. I like the quiet of morning. I'm a bit of a coffee snob; I make myself a rich, dark pour-over coffee (multiple times), build a fire and read the paper (on my iPad) most mornings. I share a few mornings a week with a good friend who stops by before he makes rounds at the hospital. We talk about politics, religion and the global economy -- we fix it all. Then, I wake my kids and start the day.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Elongate spring and fall. The porch is magnificent during those seasons. I wouldn't mind if it were a bit wider, but I like the cozy nature of it.
