CONWAY, Ark. — The University of Central Arkansas has hired a former UCA player who also played in the NFL as an assistant football coach.

Head coach Steve Campbell said Thursday that Larry Hart has been hired as defensive line coach.

Hart was a two-time Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year while at UCA and was a fifth-round selection of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2010 NFL draft.

Hart played for Jacksonville, Green Bay and Oakland in the NFL and in the Canadian Football League and the United Football League.

He spent last season as defensive line coach at Holmes Community College in Mississippi after two seasons as a graduate assistant at Arkansas State.
