Police investigating whether man shot himself in leg at Little Rock apartment complex

Police were investigating whether a man shot himself at a Little Rock apartment complex Tuesday night.

Officers responded about 9:33 p.m. to UAMS Medical Center. Kahiry Walker, 22, was being treated for a gunshot wound in the left leg. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Walker said he'd been talking to a friend at Eastview Terrace Apartments at 1225 Geyer St. when he heard gunfire and realized he'd been shot, according to the report. He said he then heard someone yell out that the shooter, who he described as a black man, had a shotgun.

Officers were called back to the apartment complex about six hours later. They spoke to residents who said Walker was "trying to trick out" a shotgun but the weapon went off and he was shot in the leg, the report states. Other residents said Walker was removing a shotgun from his pants when he accidentally shot himself.

No charges had been filed in the case Wednesday.
