5-year-old attacked by dog outside North Little Rock

A 5-year-old girl was hospitalized Monday night after police say a pit bull terrier attacked her just outside North Little Rock.

Police and sheriff's deputies were called around 8:30 p.m. to the 1900 block of Central Airport Road, where they found the girl with gouges in her face, said Capt. Carl Minden of the Pulaski County sheriff's office.

She was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, and authorities were placing the dog under quarantine, Minden said.

Around the same time, another dog attacked a person in Little Rock, but the injuries were not serious, said Lt. Steve McClanahan of the Little Rock Police Department.
