Anderson: Hopeful injuries aren’t bad

A handful of key Arkansas State players either watched Wednesday’s full pads practice or limped off having suffered injuries during it.

Right guard Colton Jackson hobbled off the field about halfway through, defensive tackle Robert Mondie didn’t finish the day after suffering a shoulder injury, while receiver Cameron Echols-Luper participated in individual drills and defensive end Ja’Von Rolland-Jones watched all of it from the sidelines.

“I’m worried every day when somebody limps,” Coach Blake Anderson said. “But indications are, it’s just normal wear and tear stuff.”

Jackson appeared to injure a hamstring, while defensive line coach Brian Early said Robert Mondie popped his shoulder out of place. Echols-Luper was held out after taking a shot to the head in Monday’s practice. Anderson said he did not suffer a concussion. Backup center Brandon Burg is out two-to-three weeks with a sprained ankle, Anderson said, and Rolland-Jones has missed practice this week with a sore lower back.

Anderson said he is hoping all will return for Saturday’s scrimmage, the first of fall camp.
