EL DORADO -- The 27-year-old victim of a fatal shooting last month in El Dorado died of a single gunshot wound, according to a preliminary autopsy report from the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock.
Capt. Kevin Holt, public information officer for the El Dorado Police Department, said investigators know few other details in the shooting death of Joshua Calhoun.
The report from the Crime Lab confirmed that Calhoun suffered a single gunshot wound in the July 28 shooting, Holt said. He declined to say where Calhoun was struck.
Calhoun and another man, 31-year-old Anthony Jackson, were discovered with gunshot wounds after officers responded to a report of a shooting at Jackson's residence at 629 Champagnolle Road around 1 a.m. July 28.
Jackson was treated and released from Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. Calhoun succumbed to his injuries after he was transferred from that hospital to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.
Holt said investigators have not yet identified any suspects or pinned down a motive.
"The basic facts are different than what we usually deal with," Holt said. "Usually you can determine a motive in the initial interviews, but in this case, we're still trying to track it down."
