Country singer and Poyen native Justin Moore headlines an "intimate" performance connected to his new album, Kinda Don't Care, at 8 p.m. Monday at the Metroplex, 10800 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock.

Bluegrass performer Clancey Stewart will be onstage in concert this weekend in Eureka Springs.

Eureka bluegrass

Mr. Big's Bluegrass Family Reunion, also known as the Eureka Springs Bluegrass Festival, kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday with the Watermelon Social in the city's Basin Spring Park. Musicians can jam; the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission is providing the free watermelon. Admission is free.

Performers at 7 p.m. Friday at the Eureka Springs Auditorium, 36 S. Main St., include the Eureka Springs Reunion Band with Cindy & Sallie, and Bill Nesbitt, followed by the Mountain View Friends with Pam Setser, Mary Parker, Clancey Stewart, Mel Besher, Cutthroat Montana and the Keisler Brothers Band.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, a concert at the auditorium features the Eureka Springs Reunion Band, the Mountain View Friends, Buffalo City Ramblers and bluegrass legend Jesse McReynolds with the Grand Ole Opry Players, Buddy Griffin and Corrina & Jeremy.

Radio open house

Little Rock public radio stations KUAR-FM, 89.1, and KLRE-FM, 90.5, will hold an open house, 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the stations' studios, 5820 Asher Ave., Little Rock. Visitors can meet the staff and tour the station, share public radio stories, listen to music by Gray A.M., Zakk & Big Papa Binns and the Uh-Huhs, and play games; the WunderBus and Loblolly Creamery will dispense eatables. Choral rehearsals

The Arkansas Choral Society will start rehearsals for its 86th annual presentation of portions of George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Aug. 22 at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m.; Monday rehearsals will run 7-8:30 p.m. Dues are $50, $25 for students; Messiah scores will be available for $12. Soloists for the concert -- Dec. 2 at First Pentecostal Church, 1401 Calvary Road, North Little Rock -- will be chosen by audition from the chorus.

Also on the 2016-2017 season: Requiem by Gabriel Faure and Gloria by Francis Poulenc with the University of Arkansas at Monticello Concert Choir and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, April 28 in Little Rock and April 30 in Monticello, and a spring Little Rock pops concert/fundraiser, date to be announced. Hot Springs home runs

The Arkansas State Archives will host a half-day symposium on "Arkansas' Homerun: Major League Training in Hot Springs," 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 27 at Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 W. Third St., Little Rock. The symposium will include a screening of Larry Foley's documentary The First Boys of Spring and author Don Duren will talk about his book, Boiling Out at the Springs: A History of Major League Baseball Training at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Admission is free but registration is required; deadline is Aug. 23. Partial funding comes from a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council. Jazz in the Park

Jazz in the Park, a free, semiannual Wednesday night performance sponsored by the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, resumes with Jazz R Us playing 6-8 p.m. Sept. 7 in the History Pavilion in Little Rock's Riverfront Park, west of the First Security Amphitheater (enter off Ottenheimer Drive off President Clinton Avenue). Men's chorus season

The River City Men's Chorus and conductor/music director David Glaze will open their 2016-2017 season with a concert titled "New Beginnings," 3 p.m. Sept. 18 and 7 p.m. Sept. 19 and 22 at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. The program will include "glorious and joyful alleluias," plus inspirational songs from several Broadway musicals.
