Charges have been filed against the man accused of opening fire on Arkansas police officers, killing a Sebastian County sheriff's deputy and injuring the Hackett police chief.

Billy Monroe Jones faces charges of capital murder, 10 counts of attempted capital murder, possession of a firearm by a certain person, killing or injuring an animal used by law enforcement and being a habitual offender.

Sheriff Bill Hollenbeck said Bill Cooper, 65, was fatally shot in the neck and Hackett Police Chief Darrell Spells was grazed in the temple by a bullet Wednesday morning while responding to a disturbance call in the county.

Jones surrendered after a 4 1/2 hour standoff at the home where the shooting occurred.

Jones is also accused of shooting a Greenwood police dog during the standoff.
