Investigators seek clues in Arkansas train derailment

LEWISVILLE — Investigators are trying to find out why a freight train derailed near Lewisville in southern Arkansas.

The Texarkana Gazette reported that the 32-car train derailed Sunday afternoon between Lewisville and Garland City. No one was injured and none of the cars carried hazardous materials.

Union Pacific spokesman Jeff DeGraff said the derailment occurred along tracks paralleling U.S. 82 and involved freight cars carrying sand and steel. He said that that once the route was clear investigators would seek to determine what happened.
