3 killed, 3 injured in 2 wrecks in state

A car flipped over Sunday night in Jonesboro, ejecting three people and killing two of them, according to Arkansas State Police.

Justin Clements of West Memphis was driving north on Interstate 555 when his right rear tire blew out at 6:12 p.m., according to the crash report. He overcorrected and hit the roadside cable barriers, causing the 2000 Mercury to flip. Conditions were clear and dry, according to the report.

Marla Clements, 35, of Jonesboro and a minor were killed in the wreck. Justin Clements, 30, and another minor were taken to hospitals in Memphis.

On Saturday night in Arkansas County, Dillion Ray Rhine was driving north on U.S. 79 when he crossed the centerline and collided with another car, according to another crash report. Conditions were wet and cloudy.

Rhine, 20, of Stuttgart was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, 33-year-old Benjamin Roswell of Stuttgart, was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Stuttgart.

State police have recorded 326 fatalities this year from car crashes. By the same date last year, police had tallied 312 fatalities.
