Hoss Hair Pullers Tribute

CALICO ROCK — The Calico Rock Museum will present the Hoss Hair Pullers Tribute from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the museum’s Gwen Murphy Art Gallery, at Arkansas 5 at the White River Bridge. To celebrate the Hoss Hair Pullers — the winners of a fiddle contest in 1926 — and their historic music, award-winning fiddler Emily Phillips will perform all day, interspersed with an open mic for country and gospel performers. Twelve Angry Women Auditions

SEARCY — Auditions for Twelve Angry Women will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday at Center on the Square, 219 W. Arch St. The play, by Reginald Rose and adapted by Sherman Sergel, is directed by David Goble. The cast includes women ages 18 to 75. Auditioners need to prepare a memorized dramatic monologue and will be asked to read scenes from the play. Performance dates are Oct. 7-9, 14-16 and 21-23.

SEARCY —Registration is open for Center on the Square’s fall KidStage production. Holly Cannon and Penny Turpin will direct the fall session of producing one-act plays. Friday Night Bingo

Kids’ Art Exhibition

BATESVILLE — Kindergartners through sixth-graders created art at the Batesville Area Arts Council’s Summer Workshops for Kids, where they learned a variety of art techniques with instructor Leia Parks. The students’ work is now featured in a culminating exhibition at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 226 E. Main St., through Saturday. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Nixon Library Schedule Update

JACKSONVILLE — The Nixon Library, 703 W. Main St., is taking a short break from children’s programming, which will start again Monday. The Nixon Library’s Food for Good program times have changed. The lunches have ended, and Snack and Supper has begun. Times are as follows: a snack from 3:45-4:15 p.m., followed by supper from 4:15-5:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for ages 3 to 18. Cabot Lions Club Meetings

CABOT — The Cabot Lions Club has regular get-togethers at noon the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Kingpin Sports Grill. Lions serve local communities and protect the planet. BATESVILLE — The Ozark Foothills Literacy Project will present its first Tie-dyed T-shirt Fundraiser at a booth in the children’s section of the White River Water Carnival on Aug. 27 at Riverside Park. The professional craftspeople of All Tied Up will help carnivalgoers make their own wearable memories. Beginner’s Crochet Workshop

District Fair Entry Deadline

MELBOURNE — All entries for the North Central Arkansas District Fair must be made online by Sept. 5 to avoid paying a late entry fee. History of Performance Art and Practice

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Ozarka College in Mountain View will offer an eight-week Continuing Education course titled History of Performance Art and Practice, with instructor John Chiaromonte, from 7-9 p.m.Wednesdays from Sept. 8 through Oct. 26. The course will include readings, videos of artists’ works and discussion. Students will be engaged in exercises to prepare them to create and perform their own performance-art pieces. Gridiron Gala

BATESVILLE — Lyon College will present its first Gridiron Gala, an auction and fundraiser, at 6 p.m. Sept. 9 in Edwards Commons at Lyon College, 2300 Highland Road. MELBOURNE — Ozarka College has announced that a $500 scholarship will be awarded to the winner of the 2016 North Central District Fair Queen Contest. Heber Springs Dulcimer Day

HEBER SPRINGS — The second annual Heber Springs Dulcimer Day will take place Oct. 8 in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 201 N.
