One driver killed, one hurt in collision on U.S. 64

A 53-year-old Arkansas man was killed Wednesday night in a collision on U.S. 64 in White County, Arkansas State Police said.

Gregory K. Pabst of Cabot was driving a 2007 Toyota west on the highway shortly before 8 p.m. near Marvin Fisher Road northwest of Beebe when the vehicle crossed the center line, according to a report.

Police say the Toyota collided with an eastbound 2004 Oldsmobile. Pabst suffered fatal injuries and the Oldsmobile driver, identified as 27-year-old Cody J. Garretson of Searcy, was hurt. The extent of Garretson's injuries wasn't clear.

The report didn't specify what might have caused the Toyota to cross the line. Conditions at the time were said to be fair and dry.

The death was the 329th fatality in a crash on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
