The shooter is sought in the death of a Memphis man found at a West Memphis apartment complex early Monday, according to police.
In a news release, the West Memphis Police Department said it received a call around 6:46 a.m. regarding a shooting victim at Courtyard Apartments in the 2900 block of Autumn Avenue.
Police said they found the man, later identified as 56-year-old Michael Gregory, with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators found items that traced Gregory to a convenience store in West Memphis and a Wal-Mart in Memphis earlier in the morning, according to police.
A suspect in Gregory's death was later developed using surveillance footage obtained from the stores. That unidentified "male subject" is described as wearing all-black clothing: a shirt, shorts, tennis shoes and a do-rag.
Authorities say Gregory's dark blue Chevrolet Blazer with no license plate and a spare tire on the back hatch has not been located.
Anyone with information related to the homicide is asked to call the West Memphis police at (870) 735-1210 or Crittenden County Crimestoppers at (870) 732-4444.
