A pedestrian was killed Saturday evening in a hit-and-run in Washington County, according to Arkansas State Police.
William Cartmill, 28, of Springdale was struck by a 2016 GMC Sierra while crossing U.S. 71B at Southfield Drive in the northbound lane about 8:15 p.m., according to a police report.
The truck left the scene after the collision, the report said. Cartmill was taken to a Fayetteville hospital, where he later died.
The driving conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident, police said. Cartmill is the 331st person to be killed on Arkansas roadways in 2016, according to state police.
