Man who stabbed two clerks at Arkansas store gets 40 years in prison

TEXARKANA — A man charged in the stabbing of two convenience store clerks in Texarkana in 2015 has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The Texarkana Gazette reports that 25-year-old David Clark Jr. was sentenced Monday. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated robbery.

Prosecutors say Clark attacked two clerks with a box cutter in a convenience store on March 27, 2015. Investigators say surveillance video shows Clark attempting to get into the cash register after the stabbing.

Both clerks were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Clark was arrested that same day.
