Keen to rev up Rev Room; Ramblers to play SoMa

Robert Earl Keen will perform at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Rev Room. Advance tickets are $25; tickets are $39 the day of the show.

Keen has released a dozen studio albums -- the latest of which, The Bluegrass Sessions, came out in February 2015 -- and six live albums. He is best known for his songs "The Road Goes on Forever" and "Merry Christmas From the Family."

Hayes Carll will play at 9 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $20.

Carll, a Texan who graduated from Hendrix College, released his latest album, Lovers and Leavers, on April 8 on Thirty Tigers Records. His previous CDs are Flowers & Liquor (2002), Little Rock (2005), Trouble in Mind (2008) and KMAG YOYO & Other American Stories (2011).

He will also play Sunday night at the Fayetteville Roots Festival.

BJ Barham, along with opening act Joshua Black Wilkins, will perform at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $15.

Barham, better known as the lead singer of American Aquarium, released his debut solo album, Rockingham, on Friday. The mostly unplugged collection of singer-songwriter sounds was inspired by the impact of the Paris terrorist attacks on Nov. 13, when Barham and his band were touring less than two hours away from Paris.

The new album contains a song, "Madeline," about his soon-to-be-born baby. Another song, "American Tobacco Company," is about his grandfather and blue-collar life in America.

Craig Horton, a blues guitarist, singer and songwriter, will perform shows at two Garland County venues: at 8 p.m. today at The Big Chill in Hot Springs and at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Coronado Community Center in Hot Springs Village. Admission is $5 today, $12.50 Saturday.

Horton, a 78-year-old Conway native, has been performing for five decades and has played with Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke, Dinah Washington, Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy. He was also a touring member of The Dells.

He has released three albums: In My Spirit, Touch of the Bluesman and, earlier this year, Just Getting' Started.

A new roots/folk duo based in New Orleans, Renshaw Davies consists of John Renshaw (vocals, guitar) and Emily Davies (vocals, percussion), who cite as their influences Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Fleetwood Mac, Shovels & Rope, Bob Dylan and Father John Misty. They have opened shows for Alejandro Escovedo, The Kid Carsons, Motel Radio, Mipso and Whiskey Shivers.

Foul Play Cabaret will present a burlesque show at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 the day of the show.

Singer Jana Kramer will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in the final performance of the year of the Murphy USA Showtime Concert Series on the courthouse square in El Dorado. Admission is free.

Kramer, the 2016 Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year, released her debut self-titled album in 2012, which contained the hit single, "Why Ya Wanna." Her follow-up album, thirty one, contained the hit singles "I Got the Boy" and "Said No One Ever."

Before she launched her musical career, Kramer was an actress, noted for her role as Alex Dupre in the TV series One Tree Hill, along with roles in Friday Night Lights, 90210, Grey's Anatomy and Entourage.
