Shot in leg at store leads to Little Rock arrest

Little Rock police arrested a man in a shooting that injured one person Tuesday night.

Henry Monroe, 39, was charged with first-degree battery and possession of a firearm by certain persons. Monroe is accused of shooting Christopher Brian, 38, outside the Stop and Smoke convenience store at 5023 Mabelvale Pike.

Officers responded to the business about 6:50 p.m. and found Brian lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound in his right calf, according to a police report. Police said Brian was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock with injuries that weren't life-threatening. Witnesses reportedly identified Monroe as the shooter.

Officers searched the area and arrested Monroe at a residence near the convenience mart, according to the report.

Further circumstances of the shooting were unclear.

Monroe was being held in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday.
