Work requires road closing, detour

SPRINGDALE — Construction work on Arkansas 265 requires a detour and closing of Old Wire Road in Lowell and Bethel Heights to traffic.

Today, temporary barricades will restrict through traffic from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.on Old Wire Road, beginning at Apple Blossom Avenue and extending to Arkansas 264, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials.

The work is expected to take a few days, weather permitting.

Crossland Construction Co. of Columbus, Kan., was awarded the $15.4 million contract for moving the highway. The project constructs about 4 miles of three-lane Arkansas 265, which extends from Pleasant Grove Road to Arkansas 264, south of Rogers and east of Lowell.

Construction of this portion is estimated to be complete by winter of 2017.
