Adams' 4-hit night enough for Travs

Caleb Adams collected four hits, drove in three runs and was a double shy of hitting for the cycle as the Arkansas Travelers never trailed in a 7-2 victory over the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday night at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

The Travs broke on top in the top of the third as Adams served as a table setter. Zach Welz and Adams hit back-to-back singles and were sacrificed to second and third on Anthony Phillips' bunt. Welz scored on a wild pitch, and Sean Coyle doubled in Adams for a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth, Adams scored Andrew Daniel on a single to right field for a 3-0 edge.

After the Drillers pulled within 3-2, Adams sparked a three-run sixth inning with a one-out solo home run for a 4-2 lead. Phillips walked but was forced out on Coyle's groundball. David Fletcher singled, and he and Coyle moved to second and third on a wild pitch. Alex Yarbrough's single scored Coyle, and Fletcher later scored on another wild pitch.

Adams capped the scoring in the seventh inning with a two-out triple to score Welz.

Yarbrough contributed three hits as the Travelers banged out 12.

Alex Blackford (8-7) pitched 5 innings for the Travs, yielding 2 earned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks to go with 3 strikeouts. The bullpen closed the game with four innings of hitless relief.
