Dallas’ Romo injures back, doesn’t return

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo injured his back on a tackle by the Seattle Seahawks’ Cliff Avril less than two minutes into Thursday night’s exhibition game at Seattle.

Romo began to scramble on the third play of the game, then slid down when he was hit from behind by Avril and landed awkwardly. He stayed on the ground for a while holding his back. He left the game at the 13:23 mark without any assistance and was replaced by Dak Prescott.

Team physicians appeared to be working on Romo’s back on the sideline where he was later seen doing stretching exercises.

Prescott remained at quarterback on the next possession, as well as the rest of the first half, and led the Cowboys to a 7-0 first-quarter lead. Romo was on the bench wearing a baseball cap.

There was no official diagnosis from the Cowboys on Thursday night.

Seattle won the game 27-17
