A University of Central Arkansas student was accused of raping a classmate in early August.

According to a report from UCA police, officers responded at 9:03 p.m. Aug. 8 to 270 Farris Road to a reported rape. The UCA police incident log lists New Hall, an upperclassmen residence hall, as the location of the call.

In the report, a student reported being raped by a classmate. The report listed a UCA student as the suspect and stated that he lives on UCA's campus.

Officer Michael Hopper, a spokesman for UCA police, said he couldn't provide any details that weren't in the report and that the case had been turned over to the Faulkner County prosecutor's office for investigation.

The suspect was released from the Faulkner County jail on Aug. 10 after being booked Aug. 9. A spokesman for the jail said he was charged with rape and second-degree sexual assault.
