Officers were called to Best Shot Liquor, 5312 MacArthur Drive, around 4:40 p.m. and found a man and a woman with bullet wounds, said Sgt. Brian Dedrick, a spokesman for the North Little Rock Police Department.

The man was in critical condition Friday evening, while the woman was in stable condition, Dedrick said.

Crime scene tape was draped outside the store Friday evening and investigators were at the scene interviewing people who were nearby at the time of the shooting. The shooter was described as a black woman, Dedrick said.

Perria Ross was standing nearby when the woman who had been shot came out of the store screaming, he said. Ross saw a young woman running away from the scene holding something in her arms, and Ross chased after her, he said.

When Ross ran around a corner, she was gone.

"It just happened so quick," he said.

Trace Poole, a hairstylist who works at the other end of the strip mall where the liquor store is located, said she entered the store a short time later and found the screaming woman back inside with blood on her shirt.

The man was in the back of the store, lying on the floor with blood on his chest while another bystander consoled him, Poole said.

"He was real pale in the face," she said of the shooting victim. "He didn't look good, he didn't look good at all."

Poole stayed with the woman until police arrived, she said, holding her hand and telling her that everything was going to be all right.
