Police: Ex-Waffle House employee upset over paycheck tried to rob Little Rock eatery

Little Rock police are investigating a complaint that a former Waffle House employee tried to rob the restaurant Sunday.

Officers were called about 6:18 p.m. to the business, at 4200 S. University Ave. An employee, Alicia Freeman, 24, said a former co-worker had come inside and complained that she hadn't received enough money on her last paycheck, according to a police report.

She said the woman, described as black and 20 years old, then pulled out a handgun and demanded more money.

Freeman told police the woman threw a sugar container, then threw the gun before leaving the restaurant and driving off in a silver-colored 2013 Hyundai Sonata, according to the report.

There were no injuries and nothing was taken. Surveillance cameras recorded the robbery attempt, the report states. Police said the handgun was recovered as evidence.

No arrest had been made Monday.
