Arkansas high school's panther statue vandalized, officials say

Police are investigating after the panther statue that resides in front of Benton High School was vandalized.

Matt Burks, a spokesman for Benton police, said the vandalism was still under investigation. He said there were paint and carvings on the statue, adding that not all details on the investigation have been released yet.

Benton Superintendent Mike Skelton said the statue also had been vandalized about two years ago, but to a lesser degree.

Benton police and the high school's resource officer are looking at footage from the school's surveillance cameras, Skelton and Burks said.
