ASU duo earns Sun Belt honors

Arkanas State’s Markie Schaedig and Mallory Warrington were named defensive player of the week and setter of the week by the Sun Belt Conference on Monday.

Schaedig had 60 digs in three matches at the TCU Invitational. She had 19 digs in a 3-0 victories over Northwestern (La.) State and North Carolina State before adding 22 in a loss against TCU.

Warrington had 127 assists in the three matches, including 37 against Northwestern State and North Carolina State and 53 against TCU.

UCA’s Carson receives conference award

Central Arkansas’ Wes Carson was named Missouri Valley Conference men’s player of the week Monday.

Carson scored two goals as the Bears defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay 5-0 on Sunday. He converted a penalty kick in the 19th minute and scored in the 87th minute with Blake Stricker assisting. It marked the third multi-goal game in Carson’s career.

Lyon’s Cordova named player of the week

Lyon College’s Ulises Cordova was named American Midwest Conference men’s offensive player of the week Monday.

Cordova scored two goals and had two assists in a victory over Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Saturday. His second goal came with two minutes left in overtime.
