Police: Man robbed Pine Bluff bank with note

Pine Bluff police are investigating the Friday afternoon robbery of a Simmons Bank branch after a threatened the teller into giving him cash and got away, a police department spokesman said.

No one was injured during the robbery of the bank's 2711 S. Olive St. branch, Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Richard Wegner said in a statement.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the suspect handed the teller an envelope with a note written on it that informed the teller of the robbery, threatened that the man had a gun and demanded money, Wegner said. After the teller complied, the man left the bank and ran east behind Jefferson Square.

The amount of cash was not disclosed.

Police released surveillance photographs of the suspect, who was described as roughly 6 feet tall with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a dark-blue hooded sweatshirt with light blue lettering, Wegner said.
