CONWAY -- Police arrested a 12-year-old boy last week after finding that he had taken an unloaded gun to a school.
Police found the gun in the boy's backpack Tuesday afternoon at Simon Intermediate School after they were notified that he might have one, Conway Police Department spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said Wednesday.
The boy was taken into custody on a charge of being a minor in possession of a handgun or possession on school property, Woodruff said in an email.
The Police Department's school resource officers questioned the boy and do not believe he had made any threats to use the weapon.
Police did not release the boy's name.
